Research
Over the course of the semester, I grew a keen interest in Harry Brorby's artistic progression. I have always found the aesthetic and ideological evolution of an artist to be intriguing. When I first saw images of Harry's Yellow Series, their stark minimalistic nature struck me. I began comparing them to his undergraduate work and I couldn't make a connection. This aesthetic dissonance I saw in Brorby's work drove me towards a relentless pursuit of connecting the dots of his his artistic development. The research paper below documents my findings through the lens of a manuscript written by Harry. In this undated manuscript, he writes a simple outline of his artistic influences, and their impact on his work. Apart from this manuscript, I utilized a number of other primary sources to guide my research. Click the link below to view my findings! I have also included his 'artistic roots' manuscript underneath for reference.
